Avenger Tool Performance Analysis for Heavy Oil Flow Enhancement

Traditional cyclic steam stimulation methods face significant operational limitations, including restricted heating radii and low oil recovery rates. These limitations are often exacerbated by high interfacial tension, which traps immobile oil within reservoirs, greatly restricting cumulative oil production. Synergetic's Enercat™ technology directly addresses these challenges by effectively reducing interfacial tension, thereby significantly enhancing oil mobility and boosting overall recovery efficiency.
Core Issue

Problem

The well faced chronic flow inefficiencies due to highly viscous crude. This not only elevated rod load stresses but also necessitated repeated hot oiling and chemical treatments to maintain lift performance. These reactive measures were unsustainable from both an operational and economic standpoint.
Solution & Results
The installation of the Avenger Tool served as a proactive, downhole flow assurance system. By altering the molecular structure of the fluid and reducing its internal friction, these tools promoted smother flow of heavy crude, drastically reducing viscosity and mechanical stress on the pumping system.
Enhanced Fluid Properties
Viscosity reduced by 97% (14,500 cSt to 411 cSt @ 87°F), API gravity increased from 17 to 19, and pour/cloud points improved by 25°C — resulting in lighter, more manageable, and higher-value crude.
Reduced Deposition & Emulsion Risks
Asphaltenes decreased by 3.2%, filterable solids dropped 58%, and total acid number increased — supporting better separation, lower corrosion, and reduced buildup.
Improved Operational Efficiency
Peak rod loads decreased by 25%, reducing mechanical stress and extending equipment life.
