Eliminating Solids Plug Formation in Mid-Continent SWD Facility with Avenger Tools

 Basin:
Mid-Continent Basin
 Location:
 Client:
Traditional cyclic steam stimulation methods face significant operational limitations, including restricted heating radii and low oil recovery rates. These limitations are often exacerbated by high interfacial tension, which traps immobile oil within reservoirs, greatly restricting cumulative oil production. Synergetic's Enercat™ technology directly addresses these challenges by effectively reducing interfacial tension, thereby significantly enhancing oil mobility and boosting overall recovery efficiency.
Core Issue

Problem

Persistent formation of solids plugs led to frequent operational disruptions, requiring regular acid pumping treatments. Produced water was characterized by dark, foamy, gas-rich conditions, and the presence of solids, indicating poor water quality and severe contamination.
Solution & Results
The facility installed Avenger Resonance Pulse Technology (RPT) tools (RPT 15 and RPT 10) to mitigate solids formation. These tools enhanced fluid separation, clarity, and reduced contamination, effectively addressing the recurring issues. Post-installation water samples demonstrated substantial improvements:
Clearer water samples
with significantly reduced oil, gas, and solid contamination — including complete elimination of prior solids.
Foam and gas removal
confirmed by injector valve behavior shifting from gas buildup to vacuum state after installation.
Improved fluid chemistry
with lower sulfate, H₂S, and CO₂ levels, and increased phosphate — all without significantly altering pH.
